Women in the Church

The purpose of the Women in the Church (WIC) is to encourage every woman to know Christ personally and to be committed to extending His kingdom in her life, home, church, community and around the world. WIC is organized to provide opportunities for women to discern and exercise their gifts and abilities to the glory of God in the total work and worship of the church.

Missionary Work

Angel Tree Ministry – By coordinating with the Angel Tree Prison Fellowship, the Angel Tree ministry collects and distributes Christmas presents to children who have a parent in prison. Christmas gifts are donated by the Church and distributed by church members, who use the opportunity to share the Gospel with the families.

Adopt-a-Missionary - This ministry coordinates with church members to find temporary homes for missionaries on furlough. Every church member who invites a missionary into their home is encouraged and assisted by the ministry to send letters, care-packages and e-mails to their adopted missionary while in the field.

Special Events

Annual Christmas Tea – In December, the women in the church present a women's tea to encourage fellowship in the Lord. Ladies of all ages are invited to enjoy Christmas carols, tea-time, and a special message.

Women's Retreat – Every fall, the women in the church attend a weekend retreat. The retreat encourages women of all ages to enjoy worship, prayer, bible study, and fellowship in the Lord. Last year's retreat was held at the Mission Springs Christian Camp and Conference Center in the Santa Cruz mountains. If you are interested in helping with next year's event, contact Mindy Hertzell. For those interested in attending next year's retreat, announcements will be made in the spring of 2007.

Compassion Ministries

Compassion Ministry – By enlisting the help of women in the Church, the Compassion Ministry seeks to serve the families of the Church who find themselves in a crisis, tragedy, or prolonged illness, or other difficult and trying circumstance.

Shut-Ins and Elderly Ministry - To encourage and serve members of the Church who are unable to attend worship services, women in the ministry visit shut-in or elderly members several times a year and regularly write letters of encouragement.

Meals on Wheels – By coordinating with the Church and the community Meals-on-Wheels program, this ministry prepares and delivers meals to those in need.

Christian Growth

Weekly Bible Study – Every Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m., a group of women meet at the home of Cherilyn Larsen to study the word. Childcare is available. For more information, contact Cherilyn at (916) 429-9170.

Prayer Chain – A weekly prayer list is e-mailed once a week to all participating congregants to encourage prayer within the church. If you are interested in receiving this email, please contact the church office at (916) 714-4111.
